Maybe I should have been a taxi driver, chauffeur or counselor. Not that I don’t love everyday at URL Radio.net, but as of late I seem to be a magnet for everyone who wants to talk about their favorite car, first car, current car, problems and conundrums. Maybe I should rephrase that. The Equinox is a magnet for everyone who wants to talk about their first car, current car, problems and conundrums. What is it about a flashy, cool car like that? I suppose it doesn’t help that the back of our car basically is an advertisement for a Mommy who wants to talk cars with you.
Strangers will come up to me in the mall, grocery store, or big box store parking lot and ask me questions about the car and the Chevy Mommy promotion. I love to answer them, as long as I can answer them. I know gas mileage, pricing, features, handling, etc. However, ask me what liter engine it is and I’m likely to stare at you blankly or offer up the sarcastic answer of a 2 liter. I love a good 2 liter. Bt usually the conversation goes from that to, “I remember my favorite car looked a lot like that: sleek, black, ran fast. It was a looker.”
I even just get random observations like, “Gosh I remember my first car a Chevy Malibu. A color you don’t see now adays..a powder blue or harvest gold. My girlfriend and I we loved that car. We went to our senior prom in that car. Afterwards we all went out to the remote roads and …..” Whoah! Okay, keep the rest to yourself. Don’t need to know anymore. But nope. I get all the details, “Her name was Janet. She was the love of my life. I still see her every now and then when I go back to visit family. Her husband owns the market there. Gosh we tooled around in that Chevy. Must have put 10,000 miles on that sucker that summer.”
So then, by then end of the story, a.k.a Made for Lifetime Movie, they just end up thanking me for listening and walking off. Which is good, because I’m usually not sure what to say after the guy tells me he lost his best friend or love of his life, whatever the case of the story may be. But I can tell I didn’t need to say anything. They just wanted to reminisce about their first or favorite car.
So why the heck am I blogging about this? Becuause it wasn’t until I started this promotion, that I realized how much people’s vehicles mean to them. Their vehicle is their first date, their family’s favorite vacation, their honeymoon, their office, their sanctuary. That’s a lot of pressure for car salespeople. I don’t know if I could go anywhere but Ressler Chevrolet now. This Equinox has been my office, it’s bene my taxi service, it’s been a sanctuary, it’s been a party! It’s going to be hard to give it up when it comes time. And I’ve gotten to know the people at Ressler. They’re good people. I can see why people become so brand loyal or dealer loyal. Never understood that until now. So thank you now for listening to MY car experience and check out the latest videos we’ve posted from our Heavy Chevy Fundraiser and with KFYR TV reporter Allie Hesford. Tell every mommy you know, if they are in the market for a car, or even just a giggle, to check out our blog.
