Ode to My Equinox

Hard to believe we have to give the cars back tomorrow!  I’m sad and the kids just want to drive around all day.  Maybe because they’re out of school and bored.  Maybe because it’s closure.  Or maybe because I yell at them less when I’m driving, so it’s a safe place where Mommy doesn’t use angry words.  Just kidding…sort of.

But in honor of this big day, I have written a poem for my Equinox so you can experience what I’m feeling. The poem will soon be set to lyrical interpretation by my morning show co-host and rapping genius, Kameran Ali.  He is coming in later today to drop some beats and turn my “Ode” into awesomeness.  So look for the video on our Youtube channel tomorrow morning.  Here is my heartfelt ode – or – just a poem.  Get it…odor just a poem?  Yep you’re gonna miss this magic when our blog is done.

Goodbye to my Equinox

I’m really going to miss my Equinox.

Driving round the city, it really rocks.

Great gas mileage and lots of leg room,

Plug in my computer and the speakers go boom!

The new car smell and the feel of the wheel;

Just drive it once, it will seal the deal.

I’d sleep in it, eat in it,

Even drop a beat in it.

The only thing I didn’t do, I must confess,

Was try out the backseat,  I think you can guess.

(Yeah boy, that video’d be rated x!)

I’l l miss the attention as I’m drivin’ by.

They b lookin’ at the car cause it’s so fly.

Sleek black beauty you’re no longer mine.

Good bye anti-skid and all wheel drive.

I may see you round wherever you roam.

I hope that Ressler gives you a good home.

Single tear drop….peace out.

Take me out to the ball diamond

Ball Diamond

Ball Diamond

Chevy & Major League Baseball along with the Scott’s Company have teamed up to build diamonds & dreams.  You can help out your local community by going to www.chevybaseball.com sign-up, pick the vehicle you’d like to win & bam you’ve voted for your local ball diamond to get a make-over.

As of 8:30 pm on 5/24/2010 Bismarck is in 4th place & 49th place.  Your vote is tracked by your zip code.  I  used 58501 which is in 49th place, and 58503 is the one in 4th place.  Sure would be nice if they could add all of the Bismarck zip codes together.

The vehicles that you can pick for a chance to win are: 2010 Avalanche, 2010 Traverse, 2010 Equinox, 2010 Silverado or a 2010 Malibu.  Hmmm, guess which one I picked!!

So, show your community spirit & get out & vote everyday now through July 16th!

With my latest video diary and blog entry I wanna talk about pet transportation.  I had to load up my dog and take him to the groomers.  Although he’s a tiny dog, his pet taxi is pretty large and has a hard time, usually, fitting into our trunks or back seats.

The Equinox has such a large open back trunk area, he fit, his pet taxi fit and my giveaway clothes fit too.  Plus, my other pet peeve is the fact he usually barks the ENTIRE trip anywhere.  But I hardly noticed it in the Equinox.  In my old car, you hear him like he’s in your ear.  But the Equinox is pretty sound proof.  Sealed up pretty tight in there.  So buying a roomy Equinox also seems to be a”sound decision”.  How freakin’ cheesy and clever am I huh?  You’ll miss these blogs when I’m gone.

No “Fair Weather” car

We had some bouts of rain over the past couple weeks and I’m no meteorologist, but….old farmers believe that 100 days after we have fog we’ll have rain.  Well remember that entire month we had fog?  If it’s any indicator, June will be a rainy month.  I’m uploading some video I shot of driving in the rain you can check out.

Here’s some more things that impress me most about how the Equinox handles rain.  The Equinox has an anti-skid feature, so several times when I was driving, a notification would come on correcting me and telling me to be careful.  I was probably hydroplaning and wouldn’t have known it in my old car.  If you hydroplane and try to steer to quickly, bad things can happen, so this is a great feature to have so I was aware of the condition of the road.  Also, my wipers work like a champ.  There’s like 14 different speeds and settings where as my old car only had low, med and high.  No happy medium (sort of like it’s owner).  I filmed this as well.  Lats thing is you know when you get rain you usually start to fog up inside because of all the moisture.  Not the Equinox.  You’ll see in the video my windows are clear.  I hate messing with the ventilation system to get my windows clear and I’ve never had that problem in the Equinox.  So just some things to think about.

Hope this has helped you.  Check out the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o0w55DsPpRc

Using all the room

Well, we definitely made use of all the room in the Traverse this weekend. Some of my college friends from South Dakota (Mitchell, Miller & Lead) were in town to celebrate our birthdays & Rock The River. So, both Friday & Saturday night we had seven adults climbing in & out of the Traverse as we made numerous stops around Bismarck-Mandan. Everyone kindly took turns hopping in the way back. It was a little uncomfortable for some of the guys – other wise it was perfect.

Traverse tidbits:

  • Averaging 15.9 miles/gallon.
  • The Ultrasonic Rear Parking Assistant rocks!
  • There is a bluetooth system to make calls & talk on your cell phone.  This also means that if you listen to www.urlradio.net on you cell phone you get it in surround sound in the Traverse.
  • It rides smooth!

We are heading to Fargo today in the Equinox for the Innovate ND finals www.innovatend.com.  We are hoping to come home some very happy ladies!!

Til next time!

Oh Baby I’ve Missed You

In Guatemala noooobody drives, unless you drive a Tuk Tuk or the Chicken Bus for a living. We walked everywhere, which is healthy but hot! I can’t tell you how many times I thought of my air conditioning, car stereo, comfy seats, leg room (really crowded in Guatemala) or that fresh new car smell. If I had the Equinox down here, I’d probably be President. I would rule the country!! Everyone would love me. There was nothing like it down there. Although, Nicole and I saw a small Chevy van that we thought would be perfect as our station vehicle, we’d never seen one like it in the states.
It was beautiful jumping into the car all by myself this morning. It’s just so comfortable. Like a home away from home. It lit up in the garage just to greet me and say good morning. Ahhh.
The only thing that’s driving me crazy is I still don’t have the controls down, so whenever it rains I have to spend a couple minutes searching around for the rear wipers and front wipers. But I guess I’ll get the hang of it. Unfortunately it’s monsoon season in North Dakota.

Who knew an Equinox could be therapy?

Maybe I should have been a taxi driver, chauffeur or counselor. Not that I don’t love everyday at URL Radio.net, but as of late I seem to be a magnet for everyone who wants to talk about their favorite car, first car, current car, problems and conundrums. Maybe I should rephrase that. The Equinox is a magnet for everyone who wants to talk about their first car, current car, problems and conundrums. What is it about a flashy, cool car like that? I suppose it doesn’t help that the back of our car basically is an advertisement for a Mommy who wants to talk cars with you.

Strangers will come up to me in the mall, grocery store, or big box store parking lot and ask me questions about the car and the Chevy Mommy promotion. I love to answer them, as long as I can answer them. I know gas mileage, pricing, features, handling, etc. However, ask me what liter engine it is and I’m likely to stare at you blankly or offer up the sarcastic answer of a 2 liter. I love a good 2 liter. Bt usually the conversation goes from that to, “I remember my favorite car looked a lot like that: sleek, black, ran fast. It was a looker.”

I even just get random observations like, “Gosh I remember my first car a Chevy Malibu. A color you don’t see now adays..a powder blue or harvest gold. My girlfriend and I we loved that car. We went to our senior prom in that car. Afterwards we all went out to the remote roads and …..” Whoah! Okay, keep the rest to yourself. Don’t need to know anymore. But nope. I get all the details, “Her name was Janet. She was the love of my life. I still see her every now and then when I go back to visit family. Her husband owns the market there. Gosh we tooled around in that Chevy. Must have put 10,000 miles on that sucker that summer.”

So then, by then end of the story, a.k.a Made for Lifetime Movie, they just end up thanking me for listening and walking off. Which is good, because I’m usually not sure what to say after the guy tells me he lost his best friend or love of his life, whatever the case of the story may be. But I can tell I didn’t need to say anything. They just wanted to reminisce about their first or favorite car.

So why the heck am I blogging about this? Becuause it wasn’t until I started this promotion, that I realized how much people’s vehicles mean to them. Their vehicle is their first date, their family’s favorite vacation, their honeymoon, their office, their sanctuary. That’s a lot of pressure for car salespeople. I don’t know if I could go anywhere but Ressler Chevrolet now. This Equinox has been my office, it’s bene my taxi service, it’s been a sanctuary, it’s been a party! It’s going to be hard to give it up when it comes time. And I’ve gotten to know the people at Ressler. They’re good people. I can see why people become so brand loyal or dealer loyal. Never understood that until now. So thank you now for listening to MY car experience and check out the latest videos we’ve posted from our Heavy Chevy Fundraiser and with KFYR TV reporter Allie Hesford. Tell every mommy you know, if they are in the market for a car, or even just a giggle, to check out our blog.
